Dry eyes

Having dry eyes is a common condition that may cause a variety of symptoms.  Some people experience a stinging, burning, or scratchy sensation.  Some people have eye fatigue after reading for a short period of time.  Dry eyes may cause sensitivity to light or increased irritation to wind or smoke.  Some people experience periods of watery eyes.

Your tears are more than just water – they are a complicated mixture containing water, oils, and electrolytes.  All of these components need to be in the correct proportions and location in order for you to have comfortable, moist eyes.

During your examination, your eye physician will examine your eyelids, your cornea (or the front of your eye), and the quality of your tears to determine a personalized dry eye treatment plan.
